Arvin Union School District

Energy Solutions

Arvin Union School District serves about 3,000 students at three elementary schools and a middle school. After hearing of others’ successes, the District engaged Climatec for its own districtwide energy upgrades. In the face of increasing utility costs, District Administrators were ready for infrastructure modernizations that would positively impact their General Fund. In close collaboration with the District, Climatec curated an Energy Master Plan that addressed its infrastructure needs. With a savings guarantee from Climatec and utility incentives on its side, Arvin Union SD was positioned to achieve its goals in energy efficiency and sustainability. In February 2020, construction wrapped up on time, within budget and without any change orders.

Hear from our customers

“
Never have I ever worked with a company that has demonstrated the level of professionalism, attention to detail and timeliness as well as Climatec. They have been incredibly responsive, going above-and-beyond the requirements of their contract to make sure the District is happy.”
Chris Davis, Chief Business Official at Arvin USD

Project Solution

Climatec installed smart, programmable thermostats, a weather-based irrigation control system, high efficiency heating and cooling (HVAC) units improving classroom comfort and indoor air quality to Arvin Union SD campuses. Interior and exterior LED modernizations fit with occupancy sensors and dimming controls also ensured energy didn’t go to waste. Lastly, the District added solar PV system to hedge directly against rising utility costs and reduce the District’s carbon footprint.

All in all, the program helped Arvin Union School District achieve its goal of generating cost savings. The budget neutral funding sources powered the program, which alleviated$2.8 million in unfunded facility infrastructure needs, reduced utility bills and minimized maintenance and repair costs all while adding to the learning environment.

‍

Project Results

With this program, the District will reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by over 1,690 metric tons annually, which equates to 286 cars removed from the road, 204 Arvin homes powered and more than 40,000 trees preserved from deforestation.
