Academy Museum of Motion Pictures

Building Automation

The Academy Museum will be the nation's first large-scale museum entirely dedicated to the art, science, craft, business, and history of film. The permanent and rotating exhibits will provide an immersive experience for visitors to explore the cultural and creative contributions that Hollywood and the film industry have made around the world.

Established in the historic May Company Building built in 1939 on the corner of Wilshire and Fairfax, the Museum is adjoined by the new magnificent theater sphere including an outdoor terrace with sweeping views of the Hollywood Hills.  The campus was designed by Pritzker Prize–winning architect Renzo Piano.

“
I’m pleased to work with your team. They are the driving force on getting the Academy’s HVAC systems commissioned.”

Project Solution

Climatec provided design and installation services to implement a digital environmental and energy management control system to deliver comfort and air quality for thousands of visiting patrons while maintaining critical space conditions that preserve the integrity of gallery artifacts. In addition, the Climatec system monitors the methane detection system as well as the dome louver and shade systems. Central Plant system control is orchestrated via software integration to multiple third party control systems in an effort to achieve optimum plant efficiency.
