Corona-Norco Unified School District

Energy Solutions

Corona-Norco Unified School District (CNUSD) cited our expertise, local team and California K-12 track record of success when it selected Climatec as its long-term energy partner in 2014.

At 50 campuses and 53,000 students, CNUSD facilities had been deteriorating for years. Classrooms weren’t comfortable and its list of deferred maintenance and aging infrastructure was long.

Climatec armed CNUSD with an energy master plan and funding solutions, positioning it for districtwide infrastructure improvements. The work was spread across three phases and completed in three years.

Hear from our customers

“
With an ever-changing economic landscape in public education, the funding expertise and added value services offered by Climatec has gone a long way with our community.”
Andrew Sterner, Administrative Director

Project Solution

Climatec implemented heating & cooling (HVAC) and LED lighting modernizations, multi-zone HVAC replacements, VRF HVAC installations, dual-technology occupancy sensors and building automation system expansion across all District sites, including CNUSD’s national historic landmark, Corona Fundamental Intermediate School.

Project Results

Climatec assisted the District in securing multiple grants for energy efficiency as well as funding for a STEM academy, complete with engineering, architecture and manufacturing workshops.

With the implementation of this program, Corona-Norco USD will save over 3,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions, which is equal to removing 658 passenger cars off the road, powering 352 Norco homes, and preserving over 50.000 trees from deforestation.
